Tim Lovelace, a GRAMMY-nominated singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and popular comic, says that his new instrumental album Piano Praise, Volume One was inspired by his wife Mary Alice. The album, which was released by StowTown Records, comprises 10 different piano renditions of Gospel hymns and songs, including “Shout to the Lord,” “Great is Thy Faithfulness,” “He Looked Beyond My Fault (Danny Boy),” and many more.
Lovelace describes his musical background as “working as a studio piano player in Mobile, Alabama, while simultaneously playing in a gospel group.” “Working on a wide range of albums—yes, vinyl—in every genre imaginable was a dream come true for me, and studio work confirmed my need for variety.” I couldn’t do shows without incorporating music when I became a full-time comedian. That would be like eating coconut cake without a cup of hot coffee for me.”
“Many people had requested that I record a piano project,” he explains, “but I was stumped as to which tunes to chose.” “My wife, Mary Alice, advised that I choose music to listen to late at night at home.She said, ‘Record the songs you love.’ So this collection is old and new and includes different stylings. I’m grateful for the writers of these songs, and I hope that some of the melodies and chords touch other hearts as they have mine.”
