Tim Tebow is a two-time national champion, a Heisman Trophy winner, and a professional football and baseball player who has played professionally in both football and baseball. He does, however, aspire to be remembered for a larger project. Tebow would rather be remembered for preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ with a world in desperate need of eternal transformation. Tebow said he feels a huge weight on his heart to communicate God’s message in a sit-down interview with Christian Headlines.

“I’m in a lot of pain. It’s difficult to describe; it’s a small amount of weight, I believe, a weight. So many people have no idea how much they are valued or how much they are appreciated. They have no idea that the God of the universe has assigned them a mission that gives them meaning. I want people to understand how important their lives are “Tebow spoke to Christian Headlines about it.

Tebow is excited about his God-given responsibility to help bring about change in the world and to inspire others to do the same. Tebow lays forth a roadmap for living a life of Christ-led purpose in his new book, Mission Possible. In the book, he also explains that while living out the specific and bold mission God has given us may seem impossible to others, Christ-followers should know it is not.

“We aren’t just here by happenstance, and the time we have isn’t just for us to wander aimlessly through life. In Christ Jesus, there are excellent works for us to do “Tebow stated his opinion. “We know there’s a task to accomplish with other people, but we also get to be co-laborers with God, to love and help and spread the Good News of the Gospel, as Ephesians 2:10 reminds us. With more than just words, we can communicate agape love to people in a real, passionate, lively, and true way. Yes, that is critical. We must be willing to say it with our deeds, just as we must be willing to leave “He went on to say more.

Tebow’s willingness to “go” is something he is putting into practice in his life. He is no stranger to the challenge of spreading the Word of God in a missional fashion, having spent time in the Philippines as a missionary kid.

Tebow revealed, “I believe it’s also because of my parents’ example, which showed us what a mission-driven life can accomplish and the opportunities it opens us. It’s probably because I’ve seen so many missionaries all across the world. It’s also because I’ve seen so many people who are faithful no matter how little or how much they have.”

“And then, witnessing how the world tells our society that what matters is having money, celebrity, and power,” he concluded. And if you don’t, you should aim for it; you should concentrate on praise, promotion, and likes. And I feel that if you have all of those things, you may have a lot of worldly possessions, but you have nothing of value.”

“I don’t believe that success and possessions are bad things, but I do believe that success and possessions are not the same thing.” I’d like to reassure others that they can achieve their goals. They can take their platforms, they can take their praise, they can take their promotion, they can take their leadership, they can take all of it, and they can turn it into things that truly matter; because what is it going to matter at the end of your life?” the former professional athlete asked.

“What difference does it make if all you can say is, “You know what, I have a million bucks, a lot of automobiles, a lot of trophies, a lot of statues, and other things?” You won’t be able to bring it with you. What counts is what endures for all time. We also have the opportunity to have an eternal impact. With our short time, we have the opportunity to live for everlasting things “he stated emphatically.

Tebow is on a mission to encourage Christ-followers to live obedient lives. Anyone who knows Tebow knows he’s never short on football metaphors, but they’re noticeably absent during our talk. Tebow appears to have been called not only to challenge his supporters to practice humility but to practice it himself.

Tebow was humbled even further when he joined The Tim Tebow Foundation on a mission trip to Johannesburg, South Africa. Tebow received insight into the lives of trafficking women and children in severe need of medical care while on the tour. He became burdened with the responsibility of meeting the needs of others who were hurting, lacking, and felt ignored. Tebow wants kids to understand that their lives matter and that Jesus cares about them.

“That is something that God has put on my heart that we must accomplish, and we must do it urgently,” he said. “Not just one day, but I believe urgently, because we serve a God who is able.”

Tebow hopes that his life can serve as an example of how one can adopt the mission of making their lives count by helping, serving, and loving with a Christ-led urgency.
