In more than 1,000 languages, four revolutionary Bible movies with the complete text of Scripture for the script are now available.
The videos, titled simply The Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, were first released in English in 2014, and subsequently translated into other languages through a collaboration between the distributor, Bible Media Group, and Faith Comes by Hearing. The films are at the heart of what’s known as the LUMO Project.
The four films employ the unabridged, word-for-word text of Scripture for the dialogue and scripts, unlike most other Bible movies that use only selected language from Scripture.
With the language of Senga, which is spoken in Zambia and other countries, the films have attained their 1,000th language translation.
The New International Version (NIV), the King James Version (KJV), and the English Standard Version (ESV) all have English versions (ESV).
“Over ten years ago, I dreamed of making a movie version of the Gospels that would be accessible and transformative for people all over the world by simply using Bible translations as the soundtrack so that everyone can see and hear the Gospels in their own language,” Hannah Leader, who created and produced the films. “I dreamt that we could reach 1,000 languages – with a lot of help and a lot of faith and in God’s good time we have achieved that goal – I am overwhelmed with joy.” says the director.
The LUMO Project calls itself a “groundbreaking, multi-language biblical resource that was created to transform the way in which people engage, discover, and study the life of Jesus through the Gospels, and to resource ministries seeking to promote global biblical literacy.”
