After learning that he has Ramsay Hunt Syndrome, a medical illness that has immobilized the right side of his face, pop superstar Justin Bieber postponed a number of his scheduled performances and appearances.
Bieber, 28, revealed his diagnosis in a Friday Instagram video.
He said in the video, “I have this illness called Ramsay Hunt syndrome, as you can certainly see by my face. “This eye is not blinking, as you can see. On this side of my face, I am unable to grin. This nostril is immobile. So, one half of my face is completely paralyzed.”
The singer stated, “I wish this weren’t the case, but obviously, my body is telling me I gotta slow down.” “I’m hoping you guys get it. I’m taking this time to simply unwind and rejuvenate so that I can perform the duties for which I was created.”
Bieber said he is relying on God to get him through this trying moment at the end of the video.
“I have hope that everything will work out. I have faith in God, and I believe everything has a purpose. While I’m unsure of what that is at the moment, I’m going to rest “said he.
Keep me in your prayers, I love you guys,” Bieber added in the post.According to the Mayo Clinic, Ramsay Hunt syndrome is caused “when a shingles outbreak affects the facial nerve near one of your ears.” In addition to facial paralysis, the rare condition can cause “hearing loss in the affected ear.”
Other celebrities and fans expressed their thoughts and prayers for Bieber in the comments section.
“Prayers up for u brotha. God’s got u always much love,” wrote Anees, a musician, in the comments.
“God has you covered bro! It’s already done in Jesus’ name! We are healed,” commented artist and musician JULESTHEWULF.
In March, Bieber’s wife, supermodel Hailey Bieber, suffered a blood clot in her brain while the pop singer was on tour. As Christian Headlines previously reported, she was hospitalized in Palm Springs, California, for several days before being released.
