Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, ” Peace be still!” and the wind ceased and there was a great calm. But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is that you have no faith?
Real Peace always begins and is found within the Spirit of a man. In other words, what is in your heart will determine how you live on the outside. That is why Jesus the Prince of Peace could calm the storm as He was the only one in the boat who was at peace, because what was in Him was far weightier than the howling storm outside. In fact, if you read the whole portion of the Scripture, you will see that Jesus was even fast asleep on His pillow earlier on during the storm, while the disciples panicked.
I believe Jesus was illustrating something to us about life; no matter what there will be storms in this life but it is up to us to deal with these storms because we already have His peace in our hearts and expects us to be calm enough and SPEAK with FAITH in the face of life’s winds “PEACE BE STILL ! ” That is why He asked the disciples, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith? Meaning that a lack of awareness of the peace of Christ in your heart leads to fear instead of Faith.
So in essence, Jesus was saying, if you know I am with you and my peace rules in your heart, you can also tell the storms that try to arise from any direction of your life, “PEACE BE STILL! ”
Grace and Peace to you as the peace of Christ rules your heart and increases your faith!
