WHAT IS THE GOSPEL? … NEW TESTAMENT DEFINITION:

The Word Gospel simply means GOOD NEWS. As children of God, we must all know the facts of the Love that pours out from the Good news which leads to faith and gives and eternal hope, because for us to enjoy the full benefits of our Salvation we must know what the Gospel means in detail. That our Salvation is a free gift to us as a result of the Love of Christ.

This is why the Apostle Paul tells in 1 Corinthians 15:3, that the Gospel which gives us Salvation is of FIRST IMPORTANCE and goes on further to lay bare the verified truths of how the Gospel of Christ saves.

For clarity purposes we use four clauses from the chapter in view.

CLAUSE 1: “CHRIST DIED FOR OUR SINS.”

Sin is the issue Christ is the cure. Adam’s  sin affected humanity, See (Romans 6:23) And by the work of Christ on the Cross, that effect became null  and void. See (Romans 5:19) Adam by His disobedience went out his place, Christ by His Obedience took our place and restored us again by the shedding of His blood.

CLAUSE 2: “CHRIST WAS BURIED.”

The death of Christ to redeem all of mankind was recorded and confirmed by the public. Every scene of His journey to the tomb was witnessed by the public. He was pierced,  prayed for forgiveness for those who crucified Him.Gave up the ghost, taken and carried to the tomb and covered with a big rock, and even guarded by soldiers. He was  dead and buried!

CLAUSE 3: “CHRIST WAS RAISED. ”

The Jesus CHRIST arose! And He is still RISEN! This is the foundation of our faith; the tomb became empty. The resurrection is our receipt from God the Father, that He has accepted His Son’s payment for sin on our behalf.

CLAUSE 4: “CHRIST WAS SEEN.”

Right  from the day of Resurrection, apart from the women who saw him, the disciple who denied Him three times saw Him. And then to the rest of the Apostles and their families. Paul gives another convincing proof: Jesus also appeared to James. James is Jesus’ half-brother, who did not believe in Him until after the resurrection. He grew up in the same home with Jesus, but he rejected Him until after Jesus rose from the dead. After his encounter with the resurrected Christ, James became the leader of the Jerusalem church. What another great reminder that God is a God of grace.

CONCLUSION : The time to BELIEVE in the Good News is now as it is life-changing and power to every one who believes. See (Romans 1:16)
