Nashville, Tennessee – Matt Maher, a multi-award-winning performer and composer, has released a new single called “Leaning,” which features Lizzie Morgan. “Leaning,” which is now available on all digital platforms, comes with a live performance video that can be seen here and below.

The powerful song’s chorus shares: “An honest yet emotional look at life’s worst seasons and how Jesus teaches us that we’re not alone.”

“What a fellowship, what a divine joy, what a valuable gift God, I’m yours and You’re mine, Let my restless spirit be still and know I’m resting on your everlasting arms,” she says.

“There are times in life where on either side of a terrible season you’re either begging for help or asking for forgiveness,” Maher says of the song he co-wrote with Lizzie Morgan, Jacob Sooter, and Brian Elmquist.

“You’re praying out of desperation or appreciation, and you discover your support structure – friends, family, and loved ones who come around you hold you up,” he explains. They take on the role of real-life signposts for the face of Jesus. What about people who don’t have anyone? What is Jesus’ message to them? ‘I no longer refer to you as strangers; I refer to you as friends,’ he says. This is what I find so intriguing about God’s relationship and the Christian message. Life isn’t a stacked tower of personal achievement, pride, egos, prosperity, or vanity…about it’s extending to others what Jesus says in the Bible. You will face difficulties in this life. You are not, however, alone. You are free to put your weight on.

While on the road throughout 2022, Maher will perform “Leaning,” the first of several new songs he will release this year, along with many of his former hits. With plans to tour Europe with Rend Collective before performing at a number of summer and fall festivals, new tour dates are being added all the time, so keep an eye on his tour website for the most up-to-date information.
